Vedic Astrology is the oldest form of Astrology. It hails from ancient India. It is a God-given science, handed down to the first sages millions of years ago. Naturally, many believe that part to be mythology. However, it is actually quite believable and does not need to be discarded. It is just as hard to believe that there was a big bang that came from "nothingness" which "created everything" as it is to learn that there is a Supreme, Blissful, Eternal God who created everything, and who is capable of realing this science to his devoted followers (the sages of ancient India).

To understand Vedic Astrology one must understand two laws inherent in Vedic Philosophy, namely Reincarnation and Karma. Reincarnation means that we, the soul inside the body, get one body afteranother, in order to learn suitable lessons, which prepare us for returning to the spiritual world once again.Karma is the tabulated scoreboard that keeps track of our reactions to things we confront. According to howwe react to the world, future lessons are created for us, by us, through the agency of the Supreme Energy of God. Generally, we are given exactly opposite of what we do or desire. This is to ultimately make us detached from matter, so that we can identify with only our soul. Having attained that state, we are eligible to enter into the world where only soul exists. This is a great science, simplified here for brevity.

Vedic Astrology teaches us that we take birth in a particular body at a particular time where the planets are positioned in just the right pattern to prepare us for our current life's lessons. Thus, by reading the planetary
positions at the time of your birth, we can know all about you. It is taught in the Vedic scriptures that God establishes the planets as his officers, to control and reward us according to our actions.

What we see as the heavenly bodies are their external manifestation. They, the planets, are actually very conscious beings, of a higher order than ourselves. Just as we are not these fleshy bodies that our eyes
behold, similarly they are not the "balls in space" that our eyes behold. There is more going on than our flesheyes see.

As long as we believe only what our material eyes see, then we believe only in matter, which is mutable, everchanging, out of our control, and inflicting sufferings upon us. That is no life for the heart and mind. The
human requires faith in a higher life in order to be happy. The understanding is that humans are the one life form in material bondage with the ability to learn, contemplate, regret, repent, pray and most importantly, give up attachment. It is not thought that animals try to give up attachment to material life. When the soul reaches the human form, he makes the best use of it by engaging in spiritual pursuits.

The purpose of Vedic Astrology is to help us to understand our karma, what our lessons are, and what we're good at. If we know that we will be challenged in some area, that helps us to not identify with that thing. We
can see ourselves as the soul, separate from the Karma, and with knowledge thus improved, fight the bad influence. It is for becoming deeper, overcoming bad addictions and distractions, and getting on with our true growth.

All the Vedic Scriptures teach that the ultimate and only truly effective means of canceling really bad karma is to engage in spiritual life as taught in the Vedas. This includes the practice of hearing from advanced spiritualists, following a regulated life, praying or chanting holy mantras daily, and so on. By "surrendering to God" thus, we show that we have learned, and then our bad karma is removed because "we
have already learned the lesson".
